Sunday River confirms Parrothead line-up April 1-4
Friday, January 21, 2005

Newry, MAINE (Jan. 21, 2005)--Jimmy Buffet fans will return to the slopes of Sunday River for perennial party of the year, the Parrothead Festival April 4-6. The celebrated Bust n’ Burn mogul competition will also return for the 17th season the same weekend.

The Parrot Head Festival features weekend-long music and events slope side at White Cap, and from there attendees can also catch the highly competitive mogul competition taking place on Tempest. Other musical acts will take place at the resort Friday and Saturday nights.

Proceeds from the festival benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Maine as part of a collaborative effort between the Parrot Head Club of Maine and the resort. In each of the past two events, Sunday River has donated $10,000 to the organization that benefits children with life-threatening illnesses.

Presented by Budweiser, Bust ‘n’ Burn brings top amateur bump skiers to compete for more than $20,000 in prizes.

Skiers and riders can enjoy lots of great music all weekend, including Friday and Saturday night shows at Tango Mary’s and on snow entertainment throughout Saturday and Sunday. The weekend acts include Pirates Dream, Calypso, Corono Bros., Coco Banana Band, Changes in Latitude and Plus Johnny.

Saturday afternoon, representatives from Bethel area restaurants and bars gather to compete for the prestigious title of offering up the “Best Margarita.” Luckily, the Best Margarita competition is not just a spectator event; skiers and riders can purchase sample tickets to taste all that the Bethel bartenders can do with tequila.

The White Cap base area will also be home to a 30-foot-long pond, where adventurous skiers and riders can attempt to skim – or swim – across. All brave souls are welcome to attempt the pond skimming. Lift and lodging packages start at just $59.95 pp/pn.

Parrot Heads are Jimmy Buffett enthusiasts who are members of a network of clubs that exist across the world.
