Published: Sunday, December 11, 2005
By Leslie Wright

Free Press Staff Writer
EAST BURKE---This is a the kind of tight-knit place where changing the color of the country store from yellow to blue elicits community discussion -- it's still yellow.

It's also the kind of place where a delicate economy makes Yankee thrift a way of life. When the first new fire truck the all-volunteer East Burke Fire Brigade has ever owned arrived a few weeks ago, it replaced a 1971 model....read the story

Mountain bikers outline route in SW Wyoming

By SEAN CONNEELY
For The Gazette

Rock Springs - In 1849 and 1850, wagon train parties forged their way west, lured by gold discovered in California. Some of these fortune seekers came from the Cherokee Nation in Oklahoma. To avoid the heavily used Oregon Trail, where a cholera epidemic was taking many lives, the Cherokee parties established new trails across what is now southern Wyoming. These routes, now called the Cherokee Trail, set down paths that in some cases are still in use today as mountain bike, ATV, motorcycle and four-wheel drive trails....read the story

Specialized BG Sport mountain biking shoe and Crank Brothers Candy C pedals
Biking/Shoes

Success in switching from stirrups to clipless pedals adheres to simple math; if it takes your bike 0.5 seconds to topple over and you 0.4 seconds to extricate yourself, why, then, you've done it.
