"LET'S GO FISHING" VOLUNTEER INSTRUCTOR TRAINING OFFERED
CONCORD, N.H. -- Do you love to fish? Put your experience to work and
pass on the fun of fishing by becoming a volunteer instructor in the
Let's Go Fishing program. A free training session for new instructors
takes place Saturday, March 12, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at New Hampshire Fish
and Game headquarters at 11 Hazen Drive in Concord. Lunch will be
provided. Sign up for the training by visiting the Fish and Game website at
http://www.wildlife.state.nh.us/Fishing/lets_go_fishing.htm to print a
workshop registration form and a volunteer application, or request
forms by contacting Lisa Collins at (603) 271-3212 or
aquatic-ed@wildlife.state.nh.us.
"Becoming a fishing instructor can be your gift back to the sport you
love," said Mark Beauchesne, who coordinates the Let's Go Fishing
program for Fish and Game. "Somebody gave his or her time to teach you.
Here's your chance to return the favor."
Experienced anglers are needed to teach all aspects of fishing to youth
and adults through the Let's Go Fishing program. Volunteer teachers
offer instruction on basic fishing skills, fly-fishing, saltwater fishing
and ice fishing. The Let's Go Fishing instructor training, offered
annually, will give you the skills needed to teach fishing to a diverse
audience. After completing the workshop, participants have the opportunity
to join an existing team of volunteer instructors who present programs
across the state. Instructor applications also will be available the
day of the training.
The Let's Go Fishing program teaches the skills and ethics of fishing
and introduces thousands of people each year to an outdoor activity that
fosters good stewardship of New Hampshire's aquatic resources. The New
Hampshire Fish and Game Department works to conserve, manage and
protect the state's fish and wildlife and their habitats, as well as
providing the public with opportunities to use and appreciate these resources.
