MARK BEAUCHESNE OF FISH & GAME LANDS SILVER TROUT AWARD

CONCORD, N.H. -- Mark Beauchesne, Coordinator of the New Hampshire Fish 
and Game Department's Let's Go Fishing program, was recognized recently 
with the Silver Trout Award from the Basil W. Woods Jr. Chapter of 
Trout Unlimited. Beauchesne was noted for his work with the Let's Go 
Fishing program and his dedication to the enhancement, preservation and 
restoration of New Hampshire's coldwater fisheries. 

"This award speaks of the efforts of the Let's Go Fishing volunteers," 
said Beauschesne. "It's as much a recognition of their efforts as 
mine." 

Fish and Game's Let's Go Fishing Program involves more than 130 
volunteer instructors who reach thousands of new anglers each year, giving 
them the skills they need to enjoy fishing, along with sound conservation 
ethics. This educational effort allows "the angling traditions and 
stewardship mindset to continue," according to Beauchesne. "It wouldn't be 
possible without the efforts of these great volunteers."

"Mark has been doing a lot for the kids in this area through the Let's 
Go Fishing program," said Angus Boezeman, Vice President of the Basil 
W. Woods Jr. Chapter of Trout Unlimited. "He really does a lot for the 
state by promoting the fishery, and he's gotten the fly-fishing end of 
the Let's Go Fishing program going, bringing it full circle." 

This is the 17th year that the chapter has presented the Silver Trout 
award. A single award is issued each year. The Basil W. Woods Jr. 
Chapter of Trout Unlimited works to conserve, protect and restore North 
America's coldwater fisheries and their watershed. With more than 300 active 
members, the chapter helps stock fish and is working on the Nash Stream 
restoration as part of the national Trout Unlimited project in New 
England called "Back the Brookie" - an effort to preserve naturally 
reproducing brook trout - among other projects. Find out more about Trout

Part of Fish and Game's Aquatic Resources Education Program, Let's Go 
Fishing teaches the skills and ethics of fishing and introduces 
thousands of people each year to an outdoor activity that fosters good 
stewardship of New Hampshire's aquatic resources. Let's Go Fishing program 
activities are made possible through Federal Aid in Sportfish Restoration
