REMOVE BOBHOUSES BY APRIL 1

CONCORD, N.H. - It's been a great winter for ice fishing in the Granite
State, but all good things must come to an end: New Hampshire Fish and
Game Department officials remind ice anglers that, under state law, all
bobhouses (also known as ice shanties) must be removed from the ice
before April 1. The law is designed to ensure that bobhouses and their
contents do not fall through the ice or become a hazard to boaters.

Failure to remove a bobhouse from public waters or public property by
the deadline can result in temporary loss of the owner's fishing
license. In cases where Fish and Game Conservation Officers cannot identify
the shanty owner, the Department has the authority to claim any bobhouse
and its contents not removed by the deadline and to sell all the items
at public auction or destroy them.

Leaving bobhouses on the property of another person without permission
also is a violation of state law, so bobhouse owners must take care to
move the structures to their own property.

For more information, contact your local Conservation Officer or Fish
and Game's Law Enforcement Division in Concord at (603) 271-3127.
