HOLDERNESS HUNTER EDUCATION CENTER NEEDS VOLUNTEERS
OWL BROOK VOLUNTEER FAIR MARCH 12-13

HOLDERNESS, N.H. -- Find out how you can get involved as a volunteer at
New Hampshire Fish and Game's Owl Brook Hunter Education Center in
Holderness at a volunteer open house set for March 12 and 13, from 1 to 3
p.m. each day. The session offers a chance to meet Owl Brook Manager
Sean Williamson, get a tour of the new facilities and find out the many
ways that volunteers pitch in to make Owl Brook a success.

"We have a great community of committed volunteers who love what they
do here at Owl Brook," Williamson said. "But with more activities than
ever planned this year at the center, we could really use more helping
hands."

Located on 500 acres of land off Perch Pond Road in Holderness, the Owl
Brook Hunter Education Center teaches people in the knowledge and
skills they need to become safe and responsible hunters, trappers, and
stewards of the state's natural resources. Volunteers play a vital role in
presenting this message to visitors and passing the heritages of hunting
and trapping on to the next generation. Instructors are needed for
hunter, bowhunter and trapper education. Volunteers also help with range
supervision, trail and grounds maintenance, greeting visitors and leading
group activities. Training will be provided.

Owl Brook was made possible through private donations and a grant
derived from the Federal Aid in Wildlife Restoration Act, managed by the
U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service.

For more information on volunteering at the center, call (603) 536-1290
or visit http://www.wildlife.state.nh.us/Hunting/hunter_ed_center.htm,
where you can learn more about Owl Brook and print out a volunteer
application.

How to get to Owl Brook: From Route 175 in Holderness, turn onto
Hardhack Road and travel east about 75 yards. Turn right onto Perch Pond Road
and follow it for 1.8 miles. The entrance to the center will be on the
left.
